The full town feels like an organic next step from the single house in the original Hello Neighbor, and the addition of more NPCs players must sneak past during their investigation is a great way to expand gameplay naturally. The cartoon appearance of the town and its residents looks more stylized than in the original game, and the lighting and shadows are quite nice to look at. The graphics quality has clearly improved since the first Hello Neighbor. In a few places, Hello Neighbor 2 vastly improves upon the original. While these maneuvers don't often change what a player needs to do to move forward, they can make finding the solution a little easier by buying them some time. Thankfully, though, there are some interesting ways to distract the AI which can lead to more creative stealth plays and problem-solving, such as using the sound of car alarms or squeakers to get an NPC's attention. Players will need to be extremely patient and enjoy trial and error, as the path forward is almost never clear. Though the puzzles seem fairly open-ended, allowing players some measure of creativity to use the mechanics to their advantage and succeed, often there is only one viable solution regardless of the path players take to reach it. Just like in the original Hello Neighbor, the puzzles in Hello Neighbor 2 are not very well explained. If this issue is not resolved at release, it will undermine almost everything else about Hello Neighbor 2 and render it largely unplayable. He will do this without shutting a door or making it more difficult to enter the house the next time and without checking the front foyer any more frequently than before. For example, early in the game, it is possible to outrun the police officer at the crime scene and stand outside the house in the open, where he has a clear line of sight to the player character, and he will lose track of the player character and simply turn around and go back to what he was doing. In practice, however, at least in the playable Beta from early this year, the AI in Hello Neighbor 2 doesn't seem to learn that quickly and can be outrun or outsmarted.
